Reigning Glory
July 1st, 2009
Houston is rapidly perfecting the, now not so foreign, concept of luxury lounges, which are quickly lining up the streets of “The Corridor.” What started with the occasional bottle of Dom service and mood lighting has now transformed Washington Ave. into a hotbed of girls dressed in Vegas-wear and an abundance of blazer/Ed Hardy combos.
And now with the opening of the posh upscale lounge Reign, Houston may have found its new hotspot to see and be seen. Promoting the “Keep Houston Rich” theme, the lounge hopes to push the envelope of opulence. Oh, they have all the trimmings; dripping crystal chandeliers, rooftop bar with downtown views, and a softly lit fireplace. The true test of its longevity in the fast paced nightlife business is the crowd. Judging from the jam packed grand opening, it looks like this one’s gonna stick around for awhile.
Looks like it’s time to slip on those Louboutins.

As usual, H-Town is putting fine luxury wear on the map with the opening of sizzling South American swimsuit company Zingara (4027 Westheimer Road). The store will open its well polished doors in Highland Village, making its United States debut right here in Hustletown, just in time for a Houston summer where scanty bikinis are key to surviving the “dewy” workday. The line features bold vivacious prints, dazzling accents and sexy touches. A few well placed cutouts on these that hint of Italian influences that are perfect for your Sunday morning lay in at Hotel ZaZa. Add killer heels, a sheer cover-up, Nicole Richie sized sunglasses and you’ll be looking like Giselle in no time.
A Life of Bliss

How about a little martini with your manicure? Recently opened Bliss Nail Spa combines the quintessential ingredients (alcohol and Elle Wood’s style heart break curing nail therapy) for any Houston gal to unwind in style. The boutique spa is the perfect combination of girly feminine cute and uptown chic. However, it offers much more than your grandmother’s traditional mani/pedi. This spa takes pride in serving up all your favorite mixed drinks from cosmopolitans to coffee (and Kahlua, wink wink) with any treatment and even comes with a gorgeous private room dubbed the “Bliss Suite”. They also vow to keep up with the latest nail trends so you spend less time researching, more time relaxing and are open late seven days a week. What more could we ask for? A male masseuse perhaps?
